Start with the creamy seafood risotto made with salmon, shrimp, and scallops. Follow with the Veal Nunzio, medallions sautéed with cheese and topped with lump crabmeat and a lemon butter sauce. Try the toasted ravioli. This fabulous finger food originated by happy accident on The Hill, the city's Italian district. Legend holds that in 1947, a chef at Charlie Gitto's restaurant knocked a plate of ravioli into a bowl of breadcrumbs. Not wanting to waste the handmade treats, he did what any sensible Southerner would do: He deep-fried them. Filled with a savory blend of meats, "toasted" ravioli became one of the city's top appetizers. It's still made from scratch at Charlie Gitto's. * A chef at Oldani's is also credited for inventing this dish. But we like the story of the happy accident. (from Southern Living) 10Best User Reviews
