   EDITOR REVIEW:

This elegant, old world-style restaurant features dark woods, a fountain, and a comfortable ambience. Risotto makes as fine an appetizer as it does an entree. Start with the creamy seafood risotto made with salmon, shrimp, and scallops. Follow with the Veal Nunzio, medallions sautéed with cheese and topped with lump crabmeat and a lemon butter sauce.

Try the toasted ravioli. This fabulous finger food originated by happy accident on The Hill, the city's Italian district. Legend holds that in 1947, a chef at Charlie Gitto's restaurant knocked a plate of ravioli into a bowl of breadcrumbs. Not wanting to waste the handmade treats, he did what any sensible Southerner would do: He deep-fried them. Filled with a savory blend of meats, "toasted" ravioli became one of the city's top appetizers. It's still made from scratch at Charlie Gitto's. * A chef at Oldani's is also credited for inventing this dish. But we like the story of the happy accident. (from Southern Living)
